March 2009
|
On March 11th the Haven celebrated the wonderful baptism of two residents and our House Supervisor.
Debbie Peterson had the honors of performing the baptism. The women were so overjoyed because they said, the presence of the Holy Spirit showed up! They said, while they were soaking wet a warm sensation covered all of them to the point where they were no longer cold. I know the angels in Heaven are rejoicing!
Congratulations Heather, Carrie and Shayne!

Extra, Extra read all about it! His Haven put on the annual High Tea Event and it was a HUGE success!
Community support was very generous, so generous our auction went on for an hour! There was approximately 104 people in attendance, which was a slightly down from the previous year. However, funds raised were up marking a grand total of our around $3,500. We are so grateful to the many individuals & businesses who made this event a success. The afternoon was filled with delightful music and a fashion show that took us on an imaginary cruise. The Ragz N Bagz Show was followed by a jam packed auction. One of the evening winnings included a night stay at the Whaleshead Beach Resort. As with any event there is always something to be learned and we hope to make the High Tea better & more exciting every year. Since this Tea marked our 1st year in service the tone of the Tea was a bit contemplative at times with a focus on how we began and how far we’ve come in this short period of time. Next year’s Tea will have more of a celebratory theme. July is a time to have fun in the sun and that is next years aim. Lord willing, we will have a great planning team next year that will pull together to find great high ticket auction items and wonderful door prizes that will dazzle the crowd. We are very grateful to Debra Wells who created most of this years gift baskets. This year’s program ran over-time. We apologize and Emma will make certain that next years event will end on time, definitely. Overall the feed back has been very encouraging and we look forward to doing it bigger and better every year with the help of our wonderful community.
